The Current is pleased to present a special opportunity to study with exhibiting artist Esperanza Cortés. In this 2-hour, all-levels workshop, the artist will share centuries-old traditional ceramic techniques from her native Colombia through the sculptural forms of clay roses and clay heart reliefs. Cortés is a nationally renowned artist and recipient of numerous awards, including a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant, and the Robert Rauschenberg Fellowship, among others. She currently has a solo exhibition at The Current, and the evening before the workshop, she will present an artist talk in the galleries. Students in this class can plan to pick up their work the following week.
