This summer, we're introducing an exclusive series designed specifically for teens! Our Afternoon Workshop Series functions autonomously from our regular summer camp schedule, making it an ideal choice for teens seeking engaging art activities without the full-day commitment. Led by our skilled Teaching Artists, this series offers students the opportunity to explore advanced art techniques, receive guidance on portfolio development and college readiness, and experience a harmonious blend of structure and spontaneity in these innovative new classes.
Enhance your digital and film photography skills through the application of alternative techniques, learn more about a historic and unconventional artistic medium, and discover the unsung pioneers of the field, such as Anna Atkins and Susan Derges. Alternative photographic practices have been utilized by artists, scientists, and photojournalists for decades to capture images without film or digital cameras. They rely on light exposure and chemical reactions in a controlled setting, and their dynamic nature adds an element of fluidity not found in digital or film photographs. Not only will this class provide you with a better understanding of the science behind film, darkroom, and alternative processes in photography, but it will also provide an opportunity to see the medium through a new lens and give new context to the contemporary field of photography.
