Earlier this month, Stowe Middle and High School students had the most incredible opportunity to work with acclaimed Philadelphia graffiti writers of the 1960s and 1970s, CornBread and Kool
Klepto Kidd; and exhibiting artist, Timothy Curtis both at The Current and at SMS, as they learned about mark-making and calligraphy, creating their own monikers or tags.

This is what we do best: bringing big art and ideas to our small town and engaging our community, making art accessible to all.

One facet of our newest exhibition— “Timothy Curtis: The Painters’ Hands” is the artist’s photographic documentation of the origination of Philadelphia-style graffiti writing. These images on display in our galleries alongside 19th-century Pennsylvania Dutch Stoneware and new paintings and sculptures by Curtis, are the first time the artist has publicly presented his thesis that a distinctive thread of influence stretches over 200 years in one region. The Current invites artists to submit proposals Exposed –our 34rd annual outdoor sculpture exhibition, bringing public art to the town of Stowe.

Open call submissions will selected by a panel of jurors including DJ Hellerman and Lucas Cowan.

The exhibition will feature both selected submissions as well as invited artists and work selected by curator Rachel Moore. Past invited artists include Chakaia Booker, Woody De Othello, Hank Willis Thomas, and Oren Pinhassi, among others.

The Exposed exhibit is experienced by 15,000+ people annually, and will be on view June 21 - October 18, 2025 on both public and private land throughout the village and at The Current.

THANK YOU @timothy.curtis and everyone who celebrated the opening of “Timothy Curtis: The Painters’ Hands.” It was a phenomenal opening with attendees from Philadelphia, New York, and Vermont who gathered to hear Curtis speak about the incredible connection between original 1800s Pennsylvania Dutch Stoneware, 1960s-1970s Philadelphia graffiti art, and Curtis’s new work in the West Gallery. This breathtaking exhibition showcases a new understanding of art’s ability to be a powerful influence both aesthetically and in transforming lives.

The show is up until April 12 and we’re open Monday-Friday 10–5 and Saturday 10–3. Don’t miss the hands-on activities in our Art Lounge, with complimentary coffee and tea. Our Design Store is also open with new work by local designers and artists.
